The first, official chapter of Unbelievable Turn of Events! Hope you like!
"Fantom no yume; a sword that has mysterious power that gives one nightmares come true. If the sword is used in the wrong way, then the world can be destroyed. However, because of this action: it's powers were sealed away and it's powers would never to be awaken again, the sword locked away until a certain person was strong enough to wield it...." The voice finished as she closed the book that had the sword on the front cover. It seemed like a normal katana. How she figured that a normal katana would have such power seemed confusing enough, but she didn't question it. "Kirinji-kun*."
"Hm?" Kirinji asked as he looked at the girl who had the book in her hand. He knew that she had questions so he figured he might as well answer them. He chewed on the stick that he found. "What is it? I mean, who would want to talk to a flat-chested person like you? I'm surprised Ichibei or even Shutara talks to you."
The girl with the fuchsia scarf appeared to pout, "Why're so mean to me?!" She cried as she glared at him slightly. She heard him chuckle slightly. Kirinji looked away for a slight moment then looked back at the book she was holding. He scoffed slightly and stood up. He ignored her question as he walked towards her, plucking the book out of her hands. "H-hey!"
Kirinji put the book in his other hand and began walking to the bookshelf. "Why are you interested in such a zanpaktou anyway, hm?" He asked. "It's not important."
Kaede fumed slightly. "Not important?" She asked him with a huff as she watched him place the book back where she had originally gotten it. "It's totally important! You're just not interested because it's not yours!"
"Whatever..." he said as he began to walk towards her. "We just got to find the zanpaktou and bring it back here so that way the Soul King can destroy it for good. You remember that much, don't you?"
"Of course I do. My big Mako-onii-san** can help find it too..." Kaede murmured. "He's good at hide and seek."
Kirinji nodded. "Let's get the others and let's go..."
Sometime before Sosuke's death and Ryoka's invasion. Otherwise known as a flashback
She sat idly, tapping her finger on the desk as she tried to drone out the Instructors teachings about how a zanpaktou should be handled. She would be much more interested in the world of Kido instead of Swordsmanship. Her eyes glanced at the board for a few seconds before turning to her paper and smirked. Drawn on the paper was the Instructor and herself as she was about to shoot a Kido spell at him. She chuckled lightly to herself.
She looked up to see the Instructor glaring at her and she immediately sat up as she looked like she was paying attention. "Yes, sir?"
The Instructor sighed heavily as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Are you paying attention?" He asked. The other students began to giggle. He always knew that Kaze never paid attention to his class and always seemed to zone out. Kaze slumped in her seat a little and refused to answer the question. He sighed once more and turned around to face the board. "Anyway, don't answer. Your father wants to see you so you're free to go for the day."
Kaze slumped in her seat even more as she heard the other students groan and complain. The Instructor glared at them as if to say be quiet. Kaze gathered her belongings and sat up straight before walking towards her father's class, calligraphy. Honestly, being summoned by her father was either a good thing or a bad thing.
She walked closer to her father's class where she wondered what he wanted to talk to her about. She shook her head and continued down the hall. It seemed like going down an empty hallway and you don't know what's going to happen. That's what it felt like to her.
After a few minutes, she found her father's classroom. The door was wide open as if he was expecting her to come five minutes ago. She went to the door, stuck her head in, and said, "Instructor told me to come here," she told her father.
Brown eyes turn to see his daughter in the doorway. "Come in, I've been expecting you, dear one," he replied as he ushered her in. She gulped silently and walked in. She glided towards his desk and sit down in front of it. Half-expecting him to yell at her 'Why did you shoot your Kido Instructor with a Kido spell in class?' or 'Why did you get into a fight with another student?' and half-expecting him to give her grades from last week and also giving an long speech was dreading her. It was usually like this on a daily basis. It always happened. "So, have you any idea as to why I have called you here, dear child?"
The young student gulped. "...you're going to ask me if I got into another fight with another student, is that right?" she asked silently.
He looked at her. "What was that, Kaze? I couldn't quite hear you."
She shook her head with a light chuckle and said, "Nothing, father. As to why you have called me here, I have no idea. Might you tell me?"
"Yes, of course. Today is the day all trainees are getting their zanpaktou. I figured I would be the one to give you your zanpaktou, if you do not mind," he told her with a smile. He saw her eyes widen, gasping with surprise as she shook her head. His hand glided down the desk, towards where he had her zanpaktou placed at which was by his side. "I recall being so overjoyed on this day when I was a student at this academy, I came here despite running a fever."
Oh great. The tall tales of how he got his zanpaktou, Kyoka Suigetsu. Honestly, she was getting bored of these stories. She rolled her eyes. "Yes, father, I've heard this story a thousand times already, give me a break," she said with a huff.
The taichou* laughed kindheartedly. "Yes, yes, I know," he replied. He took the zanpaktou that was beside him, held it up to to her with a smile. The katana was in a sheath; the sheath was black. The sword itself wasn't very long nor was it very short. He smiled as he held it out to her and watching her take it. "Be extremely careful with this sword, Kaze. Someone before you wasn't very careful with it. I hope you learn to use this swords power very careful and learn to control it within time."
Kaze raised an eyebrow. "Why is the sheath black?" She asked. "And why did you say 'Someone before you'?"
He sighed softly, simply drumming the sheath with the tips of his fingers. "For the sheath, it was the one made with the zanpaktou. Another can be made, of course, if that is your wish," he explained.
She shook her head, smiling. "Black is fine with me," she replied. She smirked. "Now about that other question..."
Sosuke shook his head. "All in time Kaze."
"Why won't you tell me?" She asked.
"You are too young to know the details."
She sighed and hung her head. She knew her father was right. She forced a smile up at him as she stood up. "The Instructor told me that I was free, so I think I am going to go train now," she told him as she began to walk to the door.
The taichou* nodded, "All right, be careful. I will see you when I get home."
She nodded. "All right, I will."
End of Flashback
"...Kaze? Kaze, are you paying attention?"
Indeed she was not. Lately, the Third Division's third seat was daydreaming in the worst possible times. She didn't know why as it started happening after the defeat of her father and the Arrancars. She jumped when her taichou* put a hand on her shoulder, raising an eyebrow towards her. "Are you feeling all right these days, Kaze?"
She fought the urge to roll her eyes. Of course she hadn't been. Shinigami didn't trust her anymore, but there were few that did. That put a lot of depression on her. "Uh...gomen*, Otoribashi-taichou*," she said softly as she looked at him. "I guess I haven't been getting enough sleep lately."
He knew that was a lie. Otoribashi shook his head. "No, that isn't it. I know you, Kaze. I've known you for a year now to know that's a lie," he replied as she took her gaze somewhere else. She did that often too; avoiding other's gazes. "Now, I have something important for you to do."
Her eyes lit up slightly. "Hotoni*?"
Otoribashi nodded and chuckled slightly. "Yes, take these papers to the Twelfth, and I have a mission for you as well."
She raised an eyebrow. "Oh really?" She asked, half-excitedly. "What is it?"
He smirked. He knew that this was going to work out in the end. He knew that she'll come back to him and say 'Oh thank you, Otoribashi-taichou!*'.
"Yes, go to the Twelfth like I asked. Kurotsuchi-taichou* has something waiting for you there. I won't tell you what it is. He'll tell you."
Kaze puffed out her cheeks and took the papers from her taichou*. "Yes, of course. Why Kurotsuchi? You know I don't like him at all."
He laughed softly. "Yes, I know that," he replied with a shrug. "Though, there are some things that this world must learn. We must learn to get along well with others we despise and we must learn to love each other!"
The third seat rolled her eyes. "Cut the 'love' lesson. It's getting slightly repetitive..." she replied. Thinking about what she had said, she covered her mouth with her hand. "Gomen*!"
He waved his hand. "Daijoubu*. Now go," he said as he ushered her quickly out of his office. Paperwork needed to be attended to and he desperately needed to finish them.
It was a long walk from the Third to the Twelfth. Along the way, she met with a couple of her friends that still trusted her and talked with them. It was nice having friends that she could trust. Entering the Twelfth, she found herself wondering about for a while before meeting with the old creep - that's what she called Kurotsuchi. She wondered how he became what he was or where he was born from.
Kaze shudderd at the thought. "Oh dear.... now, I need to get that thought out of my head, and fast," she told herself.
Continuing down the hall, she found some of the members of the Twelfth screaming hysterically and running out of a room. There was an explosion that followed it. She blinked curiously. Maybe that was where Creeper Mc.Creep * was. One of the boys that was running from the room almost bumped into her.
" Gomen!* He called. "You best not go in there right now!"
She raised an eyebrow. That did not stop her from going in the room. "Why not?"
By the time he was at the end of the hallway, he jumped when he heard yelling. "There's a crazy person in there. Although... I think Kurotschui is looking for you. Have fun!" He called out once more before running down the next hallway.
Kaze blinked and looked towards the room where the yelling had definitely occurred. She just had to get a mission as well as to deliver papers to this creepy place. She really did not like her taichou-* sometimes. Sometimes was a very big word. She walked down the hallway to the room where she saw the Twelfth's fukutaichou* pinning a very awkward and noticeable Arrancar.
'Oh no... did the team of dispatchers finally caught them? I was hoping not to deal with any of them!'
The Twelfth's taichou * glanced towards her and she squeaked, jumping even. She shuddered as his eyes bore into her. "Aha, finally, you're late! I asked for you hours ago and now you only show up!?"
